Conference hotel grand opening

November 12, 2009

The Macon Marriott City Center held its grand opening last night. Once I recovered from the embarrassment of being unprepared for valet parking (a messy car with short-person settings, no cash for a tip), I set out exploring. The hotel is connected to a renovated conference center (the largest in Georgia outside of Atlanta) by an interior corridor, so everything we need will be in one spot.

I came away reassured — excited, even — that it’s going to be a great place for our conference. There are plenty of ballrooms and meeting rooms in different sizes, and the décor, while on the cheery side, is in good taste. When I ran into the Senior Sales Manager he said that they had paid special attention to providing enough electrical outlets; anywhere they could imagine someone sitting down with a computer, they placed an outlet.

Several of us on the planning committee will do a more thorough tour soon.

It’s located at 240 Coliseum Drive, Macon, Georgia, or approximately N32° 50’ 34” W83° 37’ 06” .
